Lemological Research on Diabetes Mellitus of Children in Korea (Ⅱ)

Abstract
|

|
On occasion of the 83 Year Children´s Day, our Institute carried out a free medical examination of diabetes mellitus for children.
The total number of examined children were 4,179, of whom 2,919 children were in 50 and 6th grades of one elementary school in Kangnam area, Seoul, and 1, 260 children werefin 4th and 5th and 6th grades of one elementary school in Kwangwha area, Kyungki.
The method of examination was to conduct 50gm OGTT, and then examine the blood sugar and urine sugar of 1 hour value.
Results of examination were shown that the average range of diabetes mellitus,mcre than 201 mg/100ml of blood sugar in the whole blood of capillary vessel) was 1.91% : 1.81% for the children in Kangnam area, Seoul, and 2.14%´ for the children in Kwangwha area, Kyungki.
In this case the ratio of male and female was 1.7 : 1.
